Quiz - ACOL Jacoby Transfers and Responses
A Jacoby Transfer is an artificial bid made after partner opens in notrump, asking opener to
bid the next suit up so the stronger hand stays concealed as declarer. This quiz tests both sides of the convention -
making the transfer bid as responder with a five card major, opener's duty to complete the transfer (or super
accept), and responder's continuations once the transfer is complete.
This quiz is based on ACOL bidding, where the 1NT opening shows a weak balanced 12-14 HCP - roughly 25 combined points are needed for game, so after transferring responder signs off with 0-10 HCP, invites with 11-12 HCP and insists on game with 13+ HCP. Transfers are a partnership agreement - you must check with your partner exactly what these bids mean for your partnership understanding.
