Weak Jump overcalls
Many partnerships agree that defense's jump overcalls are weak. Meaning the overcaller has
fewer points usually 8 or less, but a long distributional suit
A jump overcall occurs when the defensive bidder misses out one level than necessary to show their suit. So
instead of overcalling 1S over openers 1H, the defense overcalls 2S which is a jump as they could easily have
bid 1S. Overcalling without jumping usually implies a stronger hand than jumping the bidding.
